A 15-Year-Old Boy Captures Amazing Clear Picture Of Saturn And Its Iconic Rings Using A Telescope In His Back Garden

Using a personal telescope in his backyard, a 15-year-old lad from Seaford, East Sussex, took an incredible image of Saturn that would make many seasoned astrophysicists happy. Marcus Reed used a reflector telescope with a 102mm diameter to capture this flawless image of Saturn and all of its rings. Marcus Reed claims that he used the iPhone app Sky Guide to locate Saturn in the sky while staying up until four in the morning.

“I took the picture at four in the morning,” he stated. When I noticed that Saturn was clearly visible on the app, I immediately put on my slippers, raced downstairs, and set up my telescope on the backyard lawn while still in my jammies. My favorite planet is Saturn, therefore I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had captured such a clear image when I glanced back. I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures and learning about astronomy, and I use my telescope every night when the sky is clear.

The second largest planet in the solar system and the sixth in order of magnitude is the Gas Giant or Saturn. Astrophysicists have been observing Saturn in the night sky since ancient times.

“Marcus has done an amazing job at capturing such a clear view of Saturn we might see with our eyes using a good beginner’s telescope,” stated Tom Kerss, an astrophysicist at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

Saturn, which is rising before the Sun this month, is surrounded by well-known rings.

Saturn’s rings, which are tilted more toward us, seem to be covering one of its poles at the moment, but in around seven years, Saturn will resemble the image Marcus got here.
